An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

The Answer Man

(Pro 22:21 KJV) That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?

Are you a good test taker?  I am.  I remember on one of the standardized tests I took I found the answer to one of the questions later in the test.  I was talking to a guy last week who was terrible at taking tests.  We could both have the same knowledge and I would do much better than him.  If you wanted it applied to fix something then you needed to talk to him.  Like I said, I am a good test taker.  I am not so good at applying what I know.

We still need to be able to “answer” (7725).  The root meaning of the word it to return.  I guess that would tell us to answer the question that is asked, not the one we want to answer.  The guy I mentioned above said he was great at essay tests and horrible in multiple choice.  Part of the problem was that the questions on the tests were poorly written and the answers were not clear.  On an essay he could get a better feel of what they wanted.

So?  We are called to witness.  Although they don’t want to admit it, the world around us has a lot of questions they can’t answer.  Be ready and try to hear what they are really asking.
