An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Eyes Right

(Pro 23:26 KJV) My son, give me thine heart, and let thine eyes observe my ways.

I am always a bit jealous of people who can talk about someone who had a life-changing influence on them.  I am sure that I have had many but I have never looked at it that way.  If it came right down to it I would have to say what this verse is talking about:  My father was the big influence on my life.  To many that would seem obvious but I am not sure they look at the right factors.  It wasn’t the verbal lessons.  It wasn’t the discipline.  I think it was the daily faithfulness that you could only see from the inside.

You need to be careful of your influencers.  To be honest, I am not sure that I would want Solomon to be someone I looked up to.  He seems to have started out well but by the end he had abandoned just about everything that was righteous.  I guess that is why we look to Jesus.

So?  Be the best example you can be and seek people to influence you who live consistently godly lives.  Be slow to become a follower.
