An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Life and Favor

(Pro 8:35 KJV) For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.

Are “life” (2425b) and “favor” (7522) synonyms, steps to salvation or totally separate?  Is it possible to receive the gift of life, which I assume means eternal, without being in God’s favor?

The most common translation of “favor” has to do with acceptance so I would assume that the two go together.  When we find life it is because we have found acceptance.  For those who are wondering where total depravity comes in, it is before we are redeemed, regenerated and all of the other concepts that go with becoming a child of God.

One of the important steps to salvation is to begin the journey into wisdom.  It is a life long journey.  It is an eternal journey.  It begins when we trust in Jesus for our salvation.

So?  If you are a believer you have already begun the journey.  Keep on truckin’.

Not being a scholar, I'd always assumed it meant that your life would have additional blessins moving forward.

Since when did "scholars" have any special corner on truth or wisdom?
