An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

A Principle of Godly Capitalism

(Pro 3:14 KJV) For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold.

One economic reality is that a business that does not make a “profit” (5504) will not continue to exist.  If you have nothing left after business is concluded you will not be able to replace your stock, pay your employees or buy food for your own family.  Profit is not evil.  Many people today try to act like it is just the results of stealing from the poor.  That is nonsense.  Making a profit is a solid Biblical principle.

The real questions are how you made the profit and how you use the profit.  That is where wisdom comes in.  That is where the financial system you support becomes a question of morality.  If you made money based on lies and deception, you are the real loser.  If you use what you made to do nothing but live the high and fast life, you are the real loser.

So?  Feel comfortable being good at business or your trade.  God will bless you if you are wise in your methods and your goals.  Be the kind of money maker that is a blessing by providing for your customers, your family and your community at large.
