An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Not the Crazy Uncle

(Pro 15:13 KJV) A merry heart maketh a cheerful countenance: but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken.

Our demeanor is determined by what is inside more than what is outside.  We have seen people with everything measurable who are living in despair.  Think of the successful people who have committed suicide or simply ruined their lives with drugs and alcohol.  We have also come across people who seemed to have nothing going right for them that are cheerful and face life with a smile.

The difference is what is inside.

This even applies to believers.  I should say it specifically applies to believers.  So often we get caught up in the current events and forget the eternal.  We forget that Jesus walked the earth when the pagan Roman Empire was at its height and Paul wrote Philippians from jail.

So?  It is really important that we spend time each day in contact with Jesus.  We talk about him living within us.  Make sure that He is part of the family not just a crazy uncle isolated in a back room.
