An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

I Will Think About It

((Pro 12:5 KJV) The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.

Have you ever heard someone responding to a tragedy with the call to think some good “thoughts” (4284).  The pagans and atheists among us don’t really have anything to turn to when hard times come.  Some will still ask people to pray for victims but that is not so politically correct these days.

But these thoughts are more than just electro-chemical impulses in our brain.  The word is also translated “plans”.  It is not a passive device but an active one.  It means that as the “righteous” (6662) think, they are looking to the future to decide what to do.  Just as the hope we have is not an empty wishing but an assurance that gives a foundation, so our thoughts are to follow the paths of righteousness that bring about the will of God.

So?  Use you time of contemplation to build your trust in God.
