An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Praise Team

(Proverbs 27:2 KJV)  Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips.

“Praise” (1984b) has its place but there are cautions involved.  One that is not mentioned here is to not let praise go to your head.  How we respond to praise is important.  A false modesty can be like an insult to the person talking about you but genuine humility can accept the fact that you did a good job without being ruined by the admission.

The caution here is that we are not to do the praising ourselves.  I think that part of that is not fishing for complements.

So?  Keep in mind that to be humble you need something to be humble about.  Work on that.
