An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Not a Debate

(Proverbs 24:28 KJV)  Be not a witness against thy neighbour without cause; and deceive not with thy lips.

The key point here is be honest.  If we are looking to make excuses for ourselves we can focus on the meaning of “witness” (5707) or whom our “neighbor” (7453) is, but that should be saved for the college debate teams who are looking to win on points.  We, as believers, are not winning on points but on righteousness.

So?  Our goal is not a matter of getting away with something.  The issue is not will we get caught.  We are to be upright, straight, righteous.  God gives the standard and the Holy Spirit to empower.  Don’t settle for less.
