An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Fairy Tales

(Proverbs 26:26 KJV)  Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation.

Americans have lived in a fairy tale.  We have had a culture that was molded by Christian values and a government that was formed on Biblical ideals.  While everyone did not believe or practice the Christian religion, its principles were accepted as right and wrong.  That has made us struggle with the reality that the rest of the world has faced on a regular basis.

People will look you in the eye, smile and lie.  When you turn your back they will stab you.  Literally or metaphorically it is the way things are in normal human behavior.  It doesn’t matter if you agree with the assessment.  Here it is.

So?  We are called to righteousness.  We are not allowed to compromise on morality.  At the same time we need to realize that those expectations are rejected by many, if not most, people around us.  Walk straight but be aware of the corruption.
