An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

And Like a Good Neighbor...

(Proverbs 21:10 KJV)  The soul of the wicked desireth evil: his neighbour findeth no favour in his eyes.

Do you have anyone in your neighborhood that makes the entire area a social ghetto?  Or maybe they just rub you the wrong way.  When I was a kid we had an old lady that lived next door.  She would call the cops when we were playing in our front yard because a ball might go in her yard.  It isn’t as if she had a Descanso Gardens type of yard.  It was kind of crab grass and bare earth.  It fit in the block well.  I can still remember her name.  To be honest, there isn’t much you can do about some of these people.

The real question is are you, or am I, one of those kinds of “neighbors” (7453)?  It is possible to be one and not know it but I think there are times when we know we are getting on someone’s nerves.  One of the lessons I take from this verse is to try not to be that guy.  If I decide I can live with it then I need to make sure I never invite them to church.

So?  If their problem with you is your righteousness then God is good with that.  If it is your self righteousness, God feels a bit differently.  I guess we witness by how loud we turn our music and how often we mow our lawn.
