An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Water Problems

(Proverbs 25:26 KJV)  A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.

I am not a country boy or one who treks in the great outdoors so I don’t have any idea how long it will take a “troubled” (trampled NASB) (7511) “fountain” (spring NASB) (4599) to clear itself out.  I assume it will happen because the water pressure will keep moving the dirt and silt.

What is more troubling to me is the “corrupt” (polluted NASB) (7843) “spring” (well NASB) (4726).  One of the techniques of a retreating army is to poison the water so the attackers will be handicapped.  It would seem like cleaning that up would be a major task.  I used to live in California where the government forced the oil companies to put an additive in the gas that was seeping into the ground water.  I am not sure that it can ever be cleaned up.

So?  Don’t be too cavalier about ignoring evil around you.  It might be necessary.  It might be destructive.  Pray for strength and discernment.
