An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Indicators

(Proverbs 20:11 KJV)  Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

I think it is the NASB that “distinguishes” (5234) (known KJV) itself here.  Every other translation has “child” (5288) instead of “lad”.  The word seems to have a male sense to it and is often conveyed as “servant”.  It has the idea of being an underling of little power.

It is important how we behave when we are not in control.  It might be a good way to measure how someone will mature if you watch how they treat animals and smaller children.  If they are someone who thinks it is fun to pull the wings off of flies then I would guess you would not want them as a chief of police.  If they steal the pencils from your desk you would not want them as your banker.

So?  Watch others and watch yourself.  The future is waiting.
