An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Passive Aggressive

(Proverbs 16:32 KJV)  He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.

I have been accused of being passive-aggressive because I refuse to let my anger loose.  It seems that following the Biblical mandate here and numerous other places is a psychological disorder.  Of course the people who accuse me of this are usually people who are trying to get me to blow up, yell and scream and maybe throw things.  Some people are able to live that way.  Then they “kiss and make up”.  I guess it works for them.  It doesn’t work for me.  I would rather take the cause of the disruption and examine it to see if I deserve what I am getting.

Is it because I read about turning the other cheek and adopted the principle or is it because I am a repressed person and it fits my personality?  I don’t know.  I do know that anger has its place.  I don’t think it is in winning a few points.  Even when we are angry I don’t see explosive verbiage and physical violence as being acceptable.

So?  I could be wrong.  I could be passive-aggressive.  I am not so worried about being better than the mighty.  I just want to be upright.

As always, others insist that we have THEIR sins, rather than our own. - lol

So I am not the only one that notices that.
