An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Live Like a Weak Link

(Proverbs 6:1 KJV)  My son, if thou be surety for thy friend, if thou hast stricken thy hand with a stranger,

Recently I was reading a poster that started off talking about free men and ended up talking about slaves.  The quality that designated a slave was being in debt.  That bit of truth comes straight from the Bible.
(Proverbs 22:7 KJV)  The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.
This verse is adding support and context to the idea from chapter 22.  One of the entanglements we are to avoid is debt.  Another is helping others get into debt.

You may have heard the expression “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander.”  One reason we are to live an exemplary life style is so that we can help others avoid the mistakes that we know to avoid.

So?  Do it for the children, and the neighbors and the friends and the enemies, for that matter.  Live like you are the weak link.
