An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

A Place to Start

(Proverbs 30:20 KJV)  Such is the way of an adulterous woman; she eateth, and wipeth her mouth, and saith, I have done no wickedness.

I accept the fact that you are not an “adulterous” (5003) “woman” (802).  To be honest, neither am I.  So we can ignore it or go for the principle involved.  If we ignore it, I have nothing to write about, so instead let’s substitute something that we might be guilty of, say gluttony.  Or maybe gossip would be better for you.  How about lack of faith in hard times?  If you can’t think of anything, just go with arrogance.

We have a tendency to justify our own failures.  If we lose our temper and say unkind words we claim we were driven to it.  We may be right.  It may be understandable.  It still doesn’t make it pleasing in the eyes of God.  The reason this is a problem is that usually in order for God to work in our lives we need to repent.  Repenting means first admit that you were wrong.  It is hard for us to get over that first hurdle.

So?  Be open to admitting to God that what you did was “wrong” (205).  If you can admit it to God, maybe you can admit it to your spouse.
