An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

The Watcher

(Proverbs 9:15 KJV)  To call passengers who go right on their ways:

Today you will face pressure to compromise your righteousness.  The enemy of your soul might be so ambitious as to present you with blatant sin and temp you to commit it.  The devil is out to get you.  How does he know the best approach?  He doesn’t know your heart like God does.  He can’t influence you the way the Holy Spirit can.  He is limited, but he is a good watcher.

In the context of this verse we have the seductress sitting and watching the crowd.  She is trying to decide whom to entice.  She picks out this young man.  What did she see?  How long had she been watching him?  What does Satan see in our daily lives that gives him the clues he needs to make his approach?  He doesn’t temp me with alcohol but he might with poker.  He never tells me to outright lie but I am often called on to exaggerate.

So?  Walk in righteousness or as this verse mentions, on the straight path.  It is hard to fall off the edge when you are in the middle.
