An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

God Eyes

(Proverbs 30:13 KJV)  There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up.

Arrogance is a killing attitude.  The idea of pride, or “lofty” (7311) eyes, is a repeated theme.  It is rooted in the garden of Eden.  Ultimately it involves trying to be gods ourselves.
(Ezekiel 28:2 KJV)  Son of man, say unto the prince of Tyrus, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Because thine heart is lifted up, and thou hast said, I am a God, I sit in the seat of God, in the midst of the seas; yet thou art a man, and not God, though thou set thine heart as the heart of God:
Keep in mind the words of the serpent to Eve,
(Genesis 3:5 KJV)  For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
In our schools we teach evolution that says man is the highest form of being.  In the cults they end up expecting to be gods.

The Christian faith is built on bowing the knee to almighty God.  We keep forgetting that we exist for His pleasure, not the other way around.

So?  Heart check or eye check.  Either way I am asking God to keep me humble and un-exalted.
