An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Khans and Crosswinds

(Proverbs 30:21 KJV)  For three things the earth is disquieted, and for four which it cannot bear:

Some of the things we joke about are a real threat.  This is the second list given in this chapter using the same presentation.  This list has four things that seem minor irritations yet are considered “earth” (776) shakers.

It is the little things that ruin most lives.  Most of the people in history have not had to worry about Genghis Khan, the Inquisition or the IRS.  Such things happen but most of us are derailed by more common events such as being cut off in traffic, losing our keys or stepping in a surprise left by the dog.  Minor events, really.  Yet they manage to bring out the worst in us.

So?  Take it as a friendly reminder.  You will run into crosswinds and road construction.  Plan on it.  Plan to keep walking in righteousness.  Pray and ask for focus, wisdom and strength.  If that doesn’t work this time, repentance and renewal are in order.
