An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

I Feel for You

(Proverbs 1:29 KJV)  For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD:

We had a young man stop by the house today.  When he arrived he was all smiles and hugs.  He soon left in a huff.  What was the change agent?  He loved feelings and “hated” (8130)  “knowledge” (1847).  He would not admit it.  He did not see it.  That is part of the problem.  He left our church a year ago because he wasn’t “feeling” it.  The church he attends now makes him “feel” good.

Our concern is not that he is a feeling type of person.  That is who he is and who he has always been.  It has also been at the heart of most of the failures of his life.  He hates knowledge because facts don’t change just because you don’t feel good.  He was not happy with our conversation.  In the long run I can only hope it stirs the intelligent side of his personality without turning off the warmth he can express.

So?  Don’t turn off your emotions.  That is my problem.  At the same time understand that the facts don’t change.  God has communicated and He is not concerned about your feelings as much as your eternal destiny.

Some folks only want to talk with you as long as you back up everything they say. I've found it best to avoid such people. Of course, my wife says it's because I am one. I just tell her that I have a low tolerance for deliberate stupidity! - lol

Of course is you do listen and consider what people say you get called wishy-washy. You can't win.

Grace and peace.
