An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

The Life of the Party

(Proverbs 9:13 KJV)  A foolish woman is clamorous: she is simple, and knoweth nothing.

We all know “clamorous” (boisterous NASB) (1993) people.  Well, we may not know them, but we certainly notice them.  When they are in pain, they announce it to the world.  When they feel good, you can’t miss it.  When they are bored, they want you to be their entertainment.  They are loud and obvious.

We tend to call them the life of the party.  God has less flattering descriptions.  There is a time to raise your voice.  Most times we make too much noise.

Why does God want us to be quiet?  It is almost impossible to listen when we are talking.  God wants us to listen.

So?  Let the world around you have the last word.  In fact, maybe you should let someone else have most of the words.  Listen and learn.  Focus on what you need to hear, not on what you want to say.
