An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Blind Score Keeping

(Pro 11:8 KJV)  The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.

I am thinking that this is one of those promises that takes place with great regularity but we have trouble believing it.  The idea is that there is a tragedy coming.  Someone is going to suffer.  God makes a choice.  He sees to it that the “righteous” (6662) are removed from the vortex and puts someone “wicked” (7563) in their “stead” (place NASB) (8478).

We have a hard time with this because we don’t see it.  We think of the suffering we have gone through or seen.  God did not seem to deliver us or others we know.  We do not see the multiplied times we have been delivered.  How many times has the hand of God staved off disaster in our lives and done it so smoothly that we were not even aware of it.

Remember the conversation Job had with God about his troubles.   One of God’s responses was,
(Job 38:4 KJV)  Where wast thou when I laid the foundations of the earth? declare, if thou hast understanding.
Job was going through hard times and questioned the actions of God.  We are blessed and question the action of God.  The point is that God is moving and acting even when we don’t see it.

So?  Be grateful for the things you have not seen.  I know a cliff hanger movie is really exciting but in real life we would usually skip all the drama and move to the happy ending.
