An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Giving Lip

(Proverbs 12:13 KJV)  The wicked is snared by the transgression of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.

It is amazing how often our “lips” (8193) get us in trouble.  It is expressed in different ways.  James talks about the tongue.
(James 3:6 KJV)  And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.
Jesus taught that the “wicked” (evil NASB) (7141a) behavior came from the heart, through the mouth.
(Matthew 15:18 KJV)  But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
The point is that we need to learn to control what we say.  It is assumed that we must first make sure that our heart has been made right.  We call that regeneration.  Then we can do something about the things that come out.

So?  Is your heart right?  Is your mouth right?  One reflects the other, or it should.
