An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

The Problem of Extra Winks

(Proverbs 10:10 KJV)  He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow: but a prating fool shall fall.

There are many ways in which we “wink” (7169) at things.  The one that comes to mind at this point is the winking of procrastination.  This is a big issue for me.  It may not effect you.  One of the things I find distasteful is the telephone.  I do not like to answer them.  I do not like to talk on them.  I find that if there is a task I must complete that involves a telephone I can find countless ways to put it off.

The problem is it does not go away.  To ignore the necessary causes endless “sorrow” (trouble NASB) (6094).  Occasionally something will go away when it is ignored, usually it isn’t that easy.

So?  Be honest.  Apply a little wisdom.  Some things can be ignored.  Others must be dealt with.  Join me in getting with it.  Grab the bull by the horns or the phone out of your pocket.  Quit winking.
