An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Got Wisdom?

(Proverbs 8:7 KJV)  For my mouth shall speak truth; and wickedness is an abomination to my lips.

Wisdom is founded on “truth” (571).  We sometimes forget that.  We tend to think in terms of intelligence, cleverness, adroit arguments and such.  This tends to get us to accept some of the worst deals possible.  We elect charlatans.  We marry facades.  We embrace “wickedness” (7562).  Sometimes we are simply wrong.  Too often we don’t take the trouble to do our homework.

God will “speak" (utter NASB) (1897) what we need to hear.  He uttered it long ago and it applies today.  He still speaks through His written word and the indwelling Holy Spirit.  If we don’t open the Book it doesn’t help us.  I use a cell phone that requires me to buy time every couple of months.  I go to the store, buy a card and take it home.  It is a waste of money if I do not activate it.  To activate it I must follow the directions printed on it.  Access to the world is available but I must activate it.

So?  God has provided all that we need.  We ignore it at our peril.  Got Wisdom?
