An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Oh, No, Not Again

(Proverbs 25:17 KJV)  Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbour's house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.

Let me assure you that I can’t be talking about you today.  I don’t know you.  At least, I don’t think I know you other than through the comment section.  Having said that, this verse may speak about your pattern.  Do you make a pest of yourself?

I heard someone mention the three day rule:  When you visit, never stay more than three days.  This would go along with that idea.  We need to be sensitive of others.  Look at your pattern.  Do you find yourself always stopping by someone’s house, office, cubicle or place of business?  Is it possible you are wearing out your welcome?  It is possible they are too polite to tell you?

My problem tends to be at the other extreme.  I am quite content to go home, close the door, turn on the answering machine, get a good book and ignore the world.  But that is an issue for another day.

So?  Check your patterns.  Be sensitive to the needs of others.
