An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Walk Straight

(Proverbs 20:7 KJV)  The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him.

What does it mean to be “righteous” (6662)?  That is a question for the ages.  Those who follow Jesus have an inbuilt desire to be holy as He is holy.  Not only has God demanded it,
(1 Peter 1:16 KJV)  Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
but the Holy Spirit gives us a thirst for it.
(Matthew 5:6 KJV)  Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.
We cannot achieve holiness through our own efforts.  It is made possible by grace and the power of the Holy Spirit.  That is the means and ability.

Our contribution does not come with being perfect rule keepers but in the area of “integrity” (8537).  We make choices.  Moment by moment we decide how to answer, how to work, how to follow through.  Our strength of character is one of the jarring difference between the world and the true church.

So?  Walk in integrity.  It may be painful now but it will pay eternal dividends.
