An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Frowardness, Anyone?

(Proverbs 2:14 KJV)  Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;

Some people “delight” (8056) to “do” (6213a) “evil” (7451a).  This is not the only place we see this truth.  I would think that this is not a small percentage of the population.  This flies in the face of secular humanism.  This is totally opposed to what is taught in schools.  It is rooted in the concept of original sin.  Since no one believes in the sinful nature they have dismantled the social structures that used to help keep them in check.

They go beyond doing evil.  They “rejoice” (1523) in it.  If they have a choice they will hurt others.  If given a chance they will lie and cheat.  They will have no sense of regret.  If they get caught they will make some vague statement of sorrow but it is clear that the sorrow is not over the deep but over getting caught.

So?  Know the world you live in.  It hasn’t really changed since the days of Cain and Abel.  Be salt and light in a world that prefers sugar and twilight.
