An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Fret Inoculation

Proverbs 19:3 (KJV) The foolishness of man perverteth his way: and his heart fretteth against the LORD.

Have you ever gotten mad at God?  Have you ever lifted your eyes to heaven and screamed?  I have had those times and I honestly believe God understands the hurting heart.  It is not His default response.

Notice who is fretting against the Lord here.  The word is not frequent and can be used to refer to anger.  This is the response of the foolish.  How do we combat foolishness?  By growing in wisdom.

I find that the more time I spend with the Lord and focusing on His attributes, the more time He seems to spend with me refreshing my soul and renewing my mind.  That means that I grow in wisdom.  That means I am more willing to trust and move into the future with confidence.

So?  If you have to scream, do it, and get on with life.  A better response, and the one God is seeking to develop in you is greater wisdom and a more mature response.
