An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Testimony Time

Psalms 40:10 (KJV) I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared thy faithfulness and thy salvation: I have not concealed thy lovingkindness and thy truth from the great congregation.

(Proverbs 23 also read)

First, it seems strange to me that I was going to hide God’s righteousness.  Because it seemed strange, I read it again and thought about it.  Then became clear that the contrast to hiding was sharing or what we like to call testimonies.

I don’t think this is talking about witnessing to the world.  Notice the last word.  It is to be in the congregation.  This is a call for us to have a part of our worship time being testimonies.  Last time I taught Sunday school, instead of starting right out with prayer requests, I asked for words of praise.  It almost ran away with the time.  When people were given opportunities to share the things they had to praise God for they opened up and we were blessed by all the ways in which our prayers have been answered, and which God was touching our lives.

So?  You may not be in charge.  You may not set the agenda.  But if you get a chance be ready to share the blessings.
