An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

A Better Option

Psalms 126:4 (KJV) Turn again our captivity, O LORD, as the streams in the south.

(Proverbs 2 also read)

In the NASB this is even more confusing than the KJV.  It talks about restoring captivity captive as if it is a good thing.  That seems strange.  I don’t know what the scholars think about this and I realized these people are looking back to the days when they were in Babylon and looking back deserve to be there again.

What gives?

I think they may be looking back at being thrown into captivity that woke them up to their spiritual responsibilities.  It was being cut off from Zion and knowing it was because they had ignore the things of God.  And now they’re back in the holy land and business as usual.

So?  Sometimes it is not hard times that are most beneficial to our spiritual growth.
