An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Scientific Method

(Pro 21:2 KJV)  Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the LORD pondereth the hearts.

As I was looking into what it meant for God to ponder our hearts, I first looked at the different translations.  I checked out the word for ponder in the Blue Letter Bible.  And then, looking at the word, it seemed to me that it almost had the nuances of a serious scientist, examining the evidence for a theory, or some unknown substance.

The keyword here is serious, or you might say, legitimate.  There are a lot of scientists, who are looking for what they want to find rather than looking for objective truth.  When God examines our hearts, He is not overly influenced by what we see as our motives or our principles.  He looks beyond our own eyes and our own perceptions, and looks down deep into whom we are.

This can bring us comfort or it can bring us an alarm.  What is the motive of our Heart?  What makes us tick?  What are we really trying to accomplish?

So?  I don’t know about you, but I find comfort in the fact that God knows my inner heart.  Much of that is because I often feel like a total failure in achieving what I want even when I have the best of intentions.  I can relax and know that He is the ultimate honest broker.
