An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Pointing to the Cross

(Psa 31:5 KJV)  Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.

(Proverbs 18, also read)

I know how glorious this message is to those of us who have the benefit of the cross.  We have been “ransomed” (6299) (NASB) or as the KJV says, “redeemed”.  Our benefit is having the full picture of the incarnation and the price paid by Jesus to pay for our sins.  We know how and when.  In the days of David they also had the assurance of deliverance but they tended to get distracted by the sacrificial system.  Most probably thought the ritual had some mystical property.  They often missed the teaching that it was their faith in the Creator and His grace that brought about the salvation.

So?  Rejoice that we live in a day and age where the Old Testament became clear and fulfilled in the New Testament.  What a time to be alive.
