An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Confusion

(Pro 27:6 KJV)  Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.

How do you tell the difference between a “friend” (157) and an “enemy” (8130)?  You evidently can’t tell by their obvious actions.  We are usually very easily deceived by outward demonstrations of love or loyalty.  I think that is a mistake.  I have had other married couples held up as an example because of the words and non-verbal actions they displayed.  In time I was vindicated in my reluctance because often those couples have ended up in divorce.  All the cute, romantic behaviors didn’t go very deep.

So?  We need to look deeper.  That can’t be rushed.  It takes effort.  It will not be popular.  It still needs to be done.  Pay special attention when people don’t think they are being observed.
