An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

A Retreat That Charges

(Psa 55:7 KJV)  Lo, then would I wander far off, and remain in the wilderness. Selah.

(Proverbs 24 also read)

Have you ever felt like you need a vacation?  Sometimes it is enough to get a quiet evening at home.  I have had several spots that I felt like I could reconnect.  David is expressing that desire in these verses.  It also seems to imply that he did not get what he wished.

We need to find ways to be renewed without leaving the zip code.  If we concentrate on worship we can find Sunday morning a time of refreshing.  I find that getting up early helps to renew my mind and spirit.

So?  There are ways to “wander far away” without leaving the house.  It takes focus and a bit of practice but it can be done.  Start by pondering the holiness of God.  Try to comprehend what it means to be eternal.  Look for evidence of the image of God in your life.  Be refreshed.
