An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Take a Deep Breath

(Pro 28:10 KJV)  Whoso causeth the righteous to go astray in an evil way, he shall fall himself into his own pit: but the upright shall have good things in possession.

As I am bombarded with the examples of corruption in high places I tend to get discouraged.  I wonder if there is any reason to keep taking the high road.  Recently an organization that I held in the highest regard has started down the road of compromise and anti-God thinking.  I am almost ready to buy a little cabin in Alaska and retreat from life.

Almost, but not quite.  The verse also has the promise in it.  You find both sides of this life experience in the Bible.  We are warned of the evil around us.  We are called to be salt and light.  We are promised that God will redeem us and the situation.

So?  This is the time of the year to be reminded of the past in the Christmas story.  God became man.  It is a time to build confidence in the God of the New Year.  If you have extra time off begin to develop the habits that keep you in tune with God’s Providence.
