An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Lookin’ Good

(Pro 30:29 KJV)  There be three things which go well, yea, four are comely in going:

Three, or four, things are listed as “comely” (stately NASB) (3190).  I want to go with the NASB translation today.  It would seem that being stately is an impressive thing to look at.  As you look at the examples that follow you can see that the first three are of little consequence unless you are in the wrong place at the wrong time and then you won’t be admiring how they look.  Even a king can look good but be a butchering barbarian.

So?  Don’t be impressed by what you see.  That is extra true in this day of air brushing, photo shop, dubbing, cosmetics, plastic surgery and lip-syncing.  Look to the inner measures that show a heart and mind in communion with the God of the universe.
