An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Sport Fans

(Pro 10:23 KJV)  It is as sport to a fool to do mischief: but a man of understanding hath wisdom.

Keep in mind that “sport” (7814) can be taken very seriously.  I like competition as long as it isn’t too serious.  When it gets to a certain level I drop out.  I am not willing to put that much into it.  I am not willing to work that hard.  Sporting activity is supposed to be fun, at least to me.

For some the key element of sports is the competition.  They relish coming up against someone who can challenge them to new levels of excellence.  I guess that has its place.  I used to enjoy the Olympics.  I used to watch the World Series.  Then the Olympics became politics and the World Series became a bunch of overpaid brats.  Sports just became another way to manipulate.  That is what is being portrayed as evil here.

So?  What’s your pleasure?  I think two people can do the same thing and depending on their motive, one is evil and one is righteous.  Sometimes it doesn’t even depend on the results, just the attitude.
