An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Too Much, Too Often

(Proverbs 29:11 KJV)  A fool uttereth all his mind: but a wise man keepeth it in till afterwards.

A key word here is the “always” of the NASB which I assume is the same as the “all” (3605) of the KJV.  There are probably times to let it all hang out.  Strong expression has its place.  The problem we have is that some people feel like they always have the right to verbal excess.  The other problem is that some of us don’t have a very good gauge of when is the right time.

So?  A general rule that seems to come out in Proverbs is, “Don’t”.  Control your temper.  Say less.  Take the hit without retaliation.  We don’t like it but there it is.
