An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Good Help Is Hard to Find

(Proverbs 27:27 KJV)  And thou shalt have goats' milk enough for thy food, for the food of thy household, and for the maintenance for thy maidens.

I will have enough goats milk to provide for my “maidens” (5291).  I am not sure if that gives me a great deal of comfort on first read.  I don’t have any maidens.  One source suggests that these are the servants who care for the goats as in “eight maids a milking” of the Christmas song.  I guess we could extend it to servants, but I don’t have any of those either.  Maybe in modern life it could be your auto mechanic or plumber.

So?  I think the point is that God is aware of our needs and will make sure they are provided for.  This does not rule out the necessity of our responsible behavior.  It gives us a foundation for our daily trust.
