An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

The Teeth of Life

(Proverbs 25:19 KJV)  Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint.

While I was in Japan I had an old filling pop out.  After securing the wayward part and looking at the hole I had to figure out what to do.  I was blessed with no pain so I had no need to panic, but what to do.  I asked around and got different advice.  Finally I called my dentist back home.  When they found I was in no pain they said I could probably wait to get home and we made an appointment.  I was told to not chew on that side and eat soft foods.  It worked and when I got home they were able to glue the old part back in and all was well.

It was a bad tooth.  I was told how to deal with it.  In spite of that I found myself chewing with it several times a day and needing to clean it well.  We are surrounded by people that have let us down.  They need to be treated carefully.  Like I was with a weak spot in my mouth, having the wrong types of friends and acquaintances can mean we are in danger.

So?  I went to the expert and followed advice.  I made it through with my tooth.  I think we can make it through with the curve balls of life.
