An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

(Proverbs 10:7 KJV)  The memory of the just is blessed: but the name of the wicked shall rot.

Notice that the “name” (8034) is linked with the “wicked” (7563).  All the “just" (righteous NASB) (6662) leaves is a “memory” (2143).  This is a way of saying “it is amazing how much you can get done if you don’t care who gets the credit”.  One of the tendencies of the upright is that they do what is right even when someone else gets the award.

Everyone gets at least a little pleasure out of being recognized.  The believer does not demand it.  He takes the high road even when no one is looking.  As a result we see the quality of life rising.  When everyone is out for themselves things “rot” (7537).  We complain about how hard it is to get anything done when we run into the incompetent, self-centered clerk but think about how many times things are done right and on time.

So?  Be a blessing.  Be one of the supporting cast and let the egotist go for the leading role.  People may not remember your name but they will be blessed by your life.
