An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Dim the Distractions

(Proverbs 1:24 KJV)  Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;

What was the last message God sent you?  This verse is referring to people who are refusing to listen but if God keeps speaking to the rebels I think it is safe to assume He is speaking to the faithful.  God isn’t like modern communications.  I can remember the days when calls would not go through because all the lines were busy.  I have recently heard concerns about whether we would run out of internet addresses.  No matter how fast fiber optics are, there are limits.

Not so with God.  He can communicate with every human being at the same time and give each one individual attention.  I can’t begin to wrap my mind around that.  I have a hard time watching a movie and listening to my wife at the same time.  The problem with communication in spiritual terms is in the receiver, not the sender.  Like the movie, we can’t understand what God is trying to say if we allow ourselves to be distracted by other demands.

So?  Listen.  God is speaking.  He has many ways but you need to put something into dimming the distractions.
