An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

A Tongue Tree

(Proverbs 15:4 KJV)  A wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit.

Here again we see the “tree of life”.  In this case the promise of eternal life is tied to our speech patterns.  Are we peacemakers or agitators?  Do we throw oil on the waters of do the cannon ball dive?  We know it makes a difference to other people.  Evidently if makes a difference to us also.

It may be awhile before we see the difference.  It may be when our children grow up and begin to apply our methods and vocabulary.  It may be when the promotion doesn’t come.  It may be so far down the road that we don’t remember the cause of the problem.  The principle remains the same?

So?  Watch your mouth.  I know that I cringe at some of the things I have said.  That is a start.  The next step is repentance and that involves a willingness to change.
