An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Blue Truth

(Proverbs 20:30 KJV)  The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly.

I didn’t watch the video or pay a lot of attention to last years media blitz about an athlete who was prosecuted for disciplining his child.  I can’t say much about what he did or whether he went too far.  I can respond to the news media and conversations I heard and the values are scary.  They are also non-Biblical.  Corporal discipline is demanded by the Bible, not condemned.  You can quote all the liberal psychologists and social workers you want, but it is still true.

And here lies the problem.  Instead of dealing with cases of real child abuse with speed and force, the pagan forces in our culture have lumped all discipline under child abuse and started a campaign to see a generation raised with no bounds.  You are seeing the results in our streets and schools.

So?  No, don’t go out and start beating your children.  Examine your position on discipline based on the written, eternal word of God.  Remember, you should not have heard it here first.
