An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Talk about the Weather

(Proverbs 30:10 KJV)  Accuse not a servant unto his master, lest he curse thee, and thou be found guilty.

I am reminded again of the tendency to gossip.  I don’t see myself doing it in the classic sense.  I see myself, of course, as being above all that.  I am simply having a serious discussion about issues that are important.  Right?  Right.  To misquote Shakespeare, “A rose by any other name, be it oh so sweet, is still a rose.”

The NASB has “slave” (5650) and the KJV has “servant” (5650).  As you notice it is the same word.  If we were transported back in time we would not see much difference.  The king had absolute authority and at our social level you had not rights or wealth.  You would just be a cog in the machine.  You feel that way today.

So?  Join me.  Cut your fellow worker some slack.  Maybe talking about the weather is the spiritual thing to do.
