An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

The Call of the Willed

(Proverbs 9:15 KJV)  To call passengers who go right on their ways:

Try to understand what people mean when they use special terms.  One of the “in” words being tossed about today is “spirituality.”  Beware of counterfeit spirituality.  It is very popular to talk about being spiritual but it usually has nothing to do with walking with Jesus.  It was once a good word that expressed truth but our culture based on relative values instead of truth has perverted it.

The anti-Christian world tries to “call” (calling NASB) (7121) to us.  These people and groups have learned that if they use the right lingo they are listened to more often.  For us spirituality is being in touch with the Holy Spirit and walking in righteousness.  For them it is built on superstition and pagan beliefs.  In this chapter we see wisdom and folly.  Here we see that folly calls out to us, just as the Holy Spirit does.

So?  Learn to listen.  If you have trouble discerning truth the first step is to check the measure of truth, the written word of God.  Don’t go to some guru even if they are believers.  Do your own homework first.  Learn to know the voice of the Spirit.
