An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

It Can Be Too Late

(Proverbs 1:28 KJV)  Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

This is a scary verse.  It is another hard truth that we don’t want to hear.  There can come a time when you can “call” (7121) but God will not “answer” (6030a).  This is a warning not to play games with God.

This is not a bedtime story to scare children.  This is not a hell-fire and brimstone threat of the tent evangelist.  It is a truth that is expressed several places in the Bible and remains a truth in spite of the teachings of people with more of the gift of mercy than discernment and knowledge.

Don’t play games with God.  Don’t say to yourself, “I will just wait until I am through having fun and then call on God."  He might not answer.

So?  Be honest.  Maybe the person to start being honest with is yourself.  God knows your heart no matter what you do.
