An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

A Do-It-on-Yourself Kit

(Proverbs 16:29 KJV)  A violent man enticeth his neighbour, and leadeth him into the way that is not good.

Proverbs deals with a long list of personality types.  We have the sluggard, the fool and the wise.  Here we have the “violent (2555)” “man” (376) (man of violence NASB).  These different people are not creations of Solomon’s imagination but products of his experience.  Part of the purpose here is to make us aware, to give us goals and to warn us.

As always, do a self check.  Think a moment about how you relate to others.  Most of us have no trouble seeing this in others but we can be totally blind to our own actions.  So take a look.

Do you find yourself getting your way because people don’t want to see your temper?  Do people walk on eggs around you?  Are there certain topics they are afraid to touch?

So?  Don’t make this a preaching point for others but an examination point for yourself.  Any changes needed?  Personal remodeling does not require a large bank account, just a big God.  And honesty.
