An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

What?

(Proverbs 4:1 KJV)  Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.

“I don’t understand” is a common statement.  It gave birth to the statement, “What part of ‘No’ don’t you understand?”

That is a key to my spiritual walk.  There are legitimate and honest questions.  There are things I don’t understand or have confused.  The mysteries of the faith may require an eternity to begin to get a handle on.  But this verse points out the keys to “understanding” (998).

Two verbs are shared:  “Hear” (8085) and “attend” (give attention NASB) (7181).   Ignore them at your own peril.  God gives and is gracious.  He is also holy and demanding.

So?  Don’t play games.  Pay attention in the class of life.  Take hold of all that is offered and apply it.  Why not start today?

Like the song says, "There is none so blind as he who WILL NOT see."

Or like a kid sitting in a discussion of the Bill of Rights saying, "I'm bored."

Grace and peace.
