An Idea Borrowed

Years ago on a radio program someone shared that they read a chapter in Proverbs every day. Since there are 31 chapters and the longest month has 31 days it allows you to read through Proverbs on a regular basis. I use it as the launch pad for my personal worship time and branch out from there. On this blog I will try to share some of the insights I have in the Word. I will try to organize them in the archive by reference.

Cross Reference

(Pro 18:22 KJV)  Whoso findeth a wife findeth a good thing, and obtaineth favour of the LORD.

This verse says that finding a wife is a “good” (2896b) thing.  You don’t need to be a Bible scholar to realize that Solomon has a lot to say about the contentious wife.  This seems like a blanket statement but the next day I read chapter 19 which has,

(Pro 19:14 KJV)  House and riches are the inheritance of fathers: and a prudent wife is from the LORD.
Notice that here the wife is from the Lord, but you have the modifier of “prudent”.  I think you need to put these two together to get the essence of the meaning.

Mark this down as a principle of Bible interpretation.  If you have something that is confusing or does not make sense then get to work seeing what else the Bible says of the subject.  You will find that by considering the whole witness of the word resolution will come.

So?  Don’t turn off your mind.  Don’t get discouraged.  The answers are there.  Pursue them.
